The 10th International Conference on Driver Distraction and Inattention

Trends, Technologies and Transitions in Distraction and Inattention

Welcome to the 10th International Conference on Driver Distraction and Inattention (DDI2026), taking place at Lindholmen Science Park in Gothenburg, Sweden, on October 20–22, 2026.

As the leading global forum on driver distraction and inattention, this conference gathers experts from academia, industry, and government to explore the latest advancements, research findings, and challenges in this field. With participants from over 20 countries, DDI2026 offers an opportunity to engage with the latest research, exchange insights, and contribute to shaping the future of road safety.

The program features distinguished keynote speakers, thought-provoking plenary and parallel sessions, a poster exhibition, and expert panel discussions spanning multiple disciplines. Networking remains a cornerstone of the conference, providing a platform for researchers and practitioners worldwide to connect, collaborate, and drive forward solutions to prevent and mitigate risks associated with driver distraction and inattention – ultimately saving lives on the road.

For a description of the general scope of the DDI conference and the focus topics for DDI2026, please see here;

Building on the success of nine previous conferences – held in Gothenburg (2009, 2011, 2013, 2018, 2022), Sydney (2015), Paris (2017), Ann Arbor (2024), and online (2021) – DDI2026 continues to promote high-quality scientific discourse and cross-sector collaboration.

We co-operate with the high impact factor scientific journal Transportation Research Part F: Traffic Psychology and Behaviour, and the authors of the best abstracts and conference presentations will be invited to submit a full paper to a special issue of the journal. Accepted papers (after TRF’s review process) will be published in a regular TRF issue, then compiled in an online special issue. All conference abstracts will be peer-reviewed by at least two international experts on driver distraction and inattention, all of whom are members of the conference’s Scientific Committee. Past conference programs and proceedings are available here:

The DDI conference series is co-organized by the SAFER Vehicle and Traffic Safety Centre at Chalmers(Sweden), Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden), Université Gustave Eiffel (France), and the University of New South Wales Sydney (Australia).
